FAQs

What is paintball?

Paintball is a fun and safe activity from the age of 8 upwards! Our friendly staff will meet and greet you in the car park. You will be issued with full camouflage overalls, a padded head guard and a paintball gun. Paintballs are fed through to the gun (from a hopper (pod) which sits on top of the gun) and are fired when you pull the trigger. Our guns are semi-automatic, pull and shoot! Throughout your session you will play different games (with breaks in-between of course!) using our equipment.

How old do you have to be to play paintball?

At our Sherwood Forest site we can take players from the age of 8 years old. For junior players you will need to refer to the information in our special junior section.

How long are the sessions?

Half days run from 10.00am - 1.00pm for a morning. Or 1pm - 4pm for an afternoon. Full days run from 10.00am until apprioximately 4pm. Mid-Week sessions at Skirmish normally start at 10am, or later if you wish?

How many paintballs will we need?

One of our most popular questions! It's very difficult for us to tell you exactly how many you shall use. As a rough guide we advise players to budget for a minimum of 300 on a half day, and a minimum of 500 on a full day. Only you are in control of the trigger...and some of you will get trigger happy!

How can I pay for my booking?

Once you have provisionally booked your date with us the places can normally be held for 2 weeks pending receipt of the £10 per person deposit. This can be paid by credit or debit card however there is a small £2 charge for all credit card payments.

What if I need to cancel once I have paid my deposit?

Providing you give us the required 2 weeks notice then cancelling your booking or re-arranging it for a new date is not a problem. However once you are within 2 weeks of your game date then unfortunately the members of your group who drop out will lose their deposit.

What should we wear?

We provide full camouflage overalls, and advise you wear something comfortable and casual underneath. After all, you will be running around the woods! Footwear: Ideally wear trainers or walking boots.

Can we bring our own paintballs?

Unfortunately not! Our packages come with paintballs included, and if you need any more on the day you can purchase them in-between games!

Do parents have to supervise?

All we ask here at Skirmish is that parents of kidz zone players stay on site for the whole session and parents of teen players listen to the safety briefing given to all customers at the start of their session. The safety briefing is very important and is the first time your children will get to know their marshals. Once you/we are satisfied you can leave them with us and have a quiet few hours...but remember to pick them up!

Can we bring snacks?

Absolutely! You are more than welcome to bring your own snacks. We also offer a range of hot and cold drinks; available to purchase throughout the day, and sell light snacks such as crisps, chocolate, hot dogs, chilli dogs and cheesy nachos so you won't go hungry!

Do you have special offers?

Of course! on all of our adult packages from groups of 10 or more we offer 1 free playce for every 10 players that you book.

Are you fully insured?

Absolutely, all of our customers are covered by our £5million public liability paintball insurance

Does paintballing hurt?

Another popular question! Getting shot is not the greatest pleasure in the world! Paintballing is great fun, and a safe; well supervised activity. When you are hit by a paintball you can expect it to sting and leave a small mark (or even a bruise in some areas), but with the adrenaline pumping the pain will be the last thing on your mind! Remember, we use special low impact guns and  paintballs for our Teens and Kidz Zone sessions.

Do you have invitations I can use?
